Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!  Psalm 95:1-2

St Michael’s Choir

Mottram Parish Church has a choral tradition stretching back over 250 years and is one of a few in Tameside to have an active choir leading our worship each Sunday. The choir’s repertoire covers various styles of music, including hymns and anthems. The choir leads music at our 10:30am services on Sunday mornings and Choral Evensong at 4:00pm on the first Sunday in the month.

The choir are always interested in welcoming new members who enjoy singing and can accommodate all ages from 8 to 80! You do not have to be able to read music or have any previous experience.  If you think this might be something you would enjoy being part of, come and meet the choir at one of our rehearsals, Friday evenings at 7:30pm in the church. Alternatively speak to any choir member or contact

The Music Group

The Music Group helps to lead the worship for the more informal services at St Michael’s. We regularly contribute to the 10:30am All Together Worship service on the 1st Sunday of the month and at special services and occasions during the church's year.  We enjoy expanding our repertoire of modern worship songs and more traditional hymns.

We are a small group of instrumentalists and singers who meet each month to prepare for upcoming services and for fellowship and prayer. The ability to read music is not a prerequisite, but a sense of humour is! People often think they can’t sing only to discover, when surrounded by friends, they do have a voice…

If you’d like to join us just speak to Ruth Montgomery, email musicgroup@ (all our email addresses* end with mottramparish.org.uk) or use our contact form.

Bell Ringers

Bell ringing in an ancient and very British tradition celebrated at St Michael’s Church.  “Change-Ringing” is a fascinating and challenging activity, good exercise and a lot of fun.  The Bell Ringing Group meets to practice together on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm and rings Sunday morning for the church service and for other occasions such as weddings and celebratory events.  If you fancy trying your hand at bell ringing we would love to welcome you.

Just come along to St Michael’s Church on any Wednesday evening and watch the band ring, have a chat and find out what it’s all about! (access via the tower doorway)  For more information contact the Tower Captain Chris Broadley on 0161 338 4905, email bells@ (all our email addresses* end with mottramparish.org.uk) or use our contact form.
