Big Walk

Our Big Walk for 2019 took place on Saturday 18th May...

We walked 22 miles of the Sandstone Trail
(or 15 or 6 miles)

Option A  22 miles from Frodsham to Bickerton - in 10 hours
Option B  the first 15 miles to Beeston Castle
Option C  the first 6 miles to the Delamere Forest

All sponsorship money is now in from our Big Walk. We have definitely raised £4,062, but expect this to rise to about £4,300, once the final amounts of our gift aid claim have arrived from HMRC. A big "Well Done" to all who came on the walk, and "Thank You" to everyone who sponsored them.

Our Big Walk heroes left church at 7.30am, ready to start walking from Frodsham at 9am, enjoying breakfast at Stonehouse Farm, Manley late morning. Jacky Smith's big yellow flag was flying on the church tower to send us off. 43 walkers, aged from 7 to 82, walked either 6, 15 or 22 miles of Cheshire's lovely Sandstone Trail. We finished at Bickerton Hill, somewhat late, in the dark and in the wrong place, but everyone had a great time.

Special mention to John Skyner, who, bandaged and with two walking sticks, did 2 miles through the Delamere Forest - the shortest but most difficult walk of the day! And thank you to Eric Batchelor, who drove us around in New Life Church's minibus all day. We will let you know how much we've raised when all the sponsor money is in, but the total is expected to be more than £3,500.

Have a look at our photo album - here. We'll add to it as more come in!

As a church we support a range of charities with regular financial gifts, including education, health and child poverty in the third world, and mentoring youth in Hattersley. And we carry out a valuable pastoral ministry daily in hospitals and homes around the parish.

We are also working on our Big Plan for St. Michael’s - a package of repairs, renovation and re-ordering  to make the church building more welcoming and accessible to all.
