FAQs
How do we arrange a funeral at St Michaels?
Please let your funeral director know that you would like to have a service at St Michaels. They will then get in touch with us as well as the cemetery or crematorium to arrange a suitable date. Once this is in place, someone from St Michaels will contact you to arrange a meeting to plan your service.
What about burial of ashes?
Tameside cemetery (just below church) has no new plots for a burial of ashes. However, if you own an existing plot please contact us and we would be happy to help.
Mottram Church memorial garden is still open. It is available for parishioners of Mottram Parish and current church members on the electoral roll.
If you would like to apply to lay your loved one to rest in our memorial garden please read and fill out this form and return it to vicar@mottramparish.org.uk
Who do we contact to arrange a burial at church?
Our graveyard closed in the 1800’s. However, the cemetery just below church belongs to Tameside council and you can get in touch with them to arrange a plot.
We regularly do a church funeral followed by a burial. It is a short walk/drive from church to the cemetery.
What are your fees?
Your funeral director will usually include our fees in the overall price of your funeral package. Your funeral director will then forward to us the amount owing for our fees.
If you are a funeral director our fees can be found here.
Does the vicar do cremation only services?
Yes. Please request a vicar to officiate at your cremation service when you speak with the funeral director. The vicar will then be in touch with you to arrange the particulars of your service.
