Tameside South and Longdendale Foodbank
one of the charities that the church supports
The Foodbank grew out of Hattersley Foodbank. It was, and still is, based at Hattersley Baptist Church, and is part of The Trussell Trust’s network of 428 foodbanks, working to tackle food poverty and hunger in our local communities, as well as across the UK. We have a permanent donation box in our church, to which congregation members bring food every week, for collection by local representative, Margaret Taylor.
The Foodbank says:
"We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK."
A client recently said:
“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline.”
